Ibiza fashion tips

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise…

“You can’t help but be infected by Ibiza’s summer vibe.  Ibiza has been a playground of artistic expression ever since the 1960s when it gave birth to the boho-chic fashion trend. The mix of Mediterranean and hippie styles still inspires fashion designers all over the globe.

So what to wear this season to truly embrace Ibiza’s summer vibes?

Embroidery is hot this season. You’ll find embroidered tunics and dresses everywhere on the island  –  just take a wander around one of the many hippie markets and you’ll pick up an authentic (often locally made) piece.

Also, straight from the 70’s, fringing is back in full swing! Fringed ponchos, fringed boots, fringed bags, fringe in all fabrics and colours. Boots? You can’t go wrong with knee high boots in spring or sandals (yes with fringes) in summer. When it comes to accessories, go for tribal rings, kuchi necklaces and earrings, all layered up.”

Quiet Escapes

Sunset at the beach (cala conta),Ibiza,Spain

“One of the best things about Ibiza is that you can disconnect from the world as easily as you can find crowded all-night parties. You don’t have to travel very far to discover hidden beaches, dreamy sunsets and traditional Spanish charm.

Start the day early in the morning and get lost in the old city. Walk through La Marina in the Port of Ibiza and explore its beautiful streets and traditional architecture. Take your time and maybe stop at one of the old patisseries to treat yourself to a sugary pick-me-up.

Ibiza town

After this sweet stop, head to the market stalls of Mercat Vell and soak up the atmosphere. Continue your trek up through the Portal de Ses Taules (right opposite the market), get lost in the cobbled ancient streets of Dalt Vila and check out the historic town (UNESCO has declared  it a World Heritage Site). Wander through the narrow streets and enjoy every step until you reach the Cathedral of Ibiza.

An action-packed morning of exploring deserves an afternoon reward. Avoid the typical beaches and head off-the-beaten track.  Old fishermen’s houses, rocky beaches and crystal-clear waters await. Es Portixol, Ses Balandres, Xuclar Cala, Cala Moli, Punta de Ses Portes and Saladeta Cala are just a few of my favourite secret beaches.”
