A Whistlestop Tour of Barcelona

Barcelona offers everything you can imagine from a Mediterranean city – sunshine, beaches, wonderful food, culture and design.

Seeing the city sights couldn’t be easier. At arrivals from Barcelona airport the Aerobus service brings you to Placa Catalunya, the heart of the city in just 25 min. From here you can start your tour of the city. At a walkable distance you’ll enjoy many outdoor markets, restaurants, bars, boutiques and museums.

Walk down La Rambla with its costumed mimes to the harbour and be sure to try the seafood at Mercat de La Boqueria, Barcelona’s most famous food market.

Try different tapas bars and their selection of tasty bites. There is a good selection and some offer special deals. In the evening, go to the old part of the city called Barri Gotic – dinner is served between nine o’clock and midnight. One of the city’s top shopping destinations is the Passeig de Gracia, it’s filled with elegant boutiques. The Montjuïc Magic Fountain has become one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions too. Of course, you mustn’t miss the Art Nouveau architecture of Gaudi. The Gardens of the Parc Guell have good examples of his work. Most famous of all his buildings, La Sagrada Familia remains unfinished. The construction started in 1882 and is still ongoing. El Palau de La Musica, a modernist concert hall in the Barri Gotic, built by Lluis domenech i Montaner is also worth seeing.

The Bus Turistic, the double decker sightseeing bus, follows a route throughout the city at Placa Catalunya and is probably the most convenient way to see all of the city’s wonders.
