Sun, Sand and Seafood in Lisbon
If you are planning a short break but can’t decide between city and beach, then Lisbon is the perfect choice for you. Older than London and Paris, Lisbon is the ideal destination for those who want to combine sun-seeking with a cultural short break.
Lisbon unfolds across seven hills and is a delight to explore on foot. Get lost in its narrow streets, and you’ll discover an eclectic mix of wine and tapas bars, restaurants, live-music venues, design and fashion emporiums, and plenty of options for an unforgettable night out.
Tagide is one of my favourite places to go on a midweek evening. In a fine old house, overlooking the Tagus River, this Tapas Bar has one of the best views in the city. The service is friendly and the food superb, combining regional ingredients with Mediterranean and international culinary influences. Finally, the wine list is very good with some truly great Portuguese wines for a good value.
There are plenty of things to do and places to visit in Lisbon and the beach lies 15 minutes away by train. You can also visit the traditional fishing village in Sesimbra and the 19th century Romantic architecture of Sintra, with its royal palaces and breathtaking views over the Atlantic.
Whether you are looking for a city break, a relaxing beachside holiday or the best of both worlds, Lisbon has all you need for an unforgettable short-break holiday.
