Say Kalimera to Thessaloniki!
As soon as you land in Thessaloniki’s Macedonia airport, don’t waste any time. Grab a seat on bus number 78 which goes straight to the heart of the city and you’ll be ready to say “Kalimera Thessaloniki” and get your holiday started as soon as possible!
When you get to the city, I’d recommend getting out at Aristotelous Square as it’s the most central stop and you can reach almost anywhere in Thessaloniki from here.
Once you’ve dropped your luggage at your accommodation, go back out and discover the city’s seafront. Stroll as far as Mojo and order a coffee. The coffee here is fantastic and you can enjoy really beautiful sea views.
When the caffeine kicks in and you’re ready to explore the rest of city, keep walking along the seaside until you reach Lefkos Pirgos which is known as The White Tower of Thessaloniki. It’s not just another monument, it’s the landmark of Thessaloniki. If you’re interested in learning something about the history of the city, there’s a museum inside with exhibitions dedicated to various historical periods.
Time To Eat
Ask anyone who’s been to Greece what they enjoyed most and they’ll tell you the food. If you want to experience exactly what they’re talking about for yourself, head to Agioli, it’s an amazing tavern just in front of the sea. They specialise in freshly made salads, seafood and fish. I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon especially when the views are this good.
Nightlife means a lot in Thessaloniki. All bars and clubs are packed 7 days a week. If you’re looking for a good place to party until the early hours, I’d definitely recommend Vanilla Sky, it’s a roof-garden bar located just in front of the city’s port. It’s stylish and modern and there’s always a great mix of tourists and locals.
Enjoy your stay – so many places…but only one heart…that’s Thessaloniki!
