Welcome to Bologna
Within its 40 kilometres of porticoes that embrace the medieval city centre you will feel like you’re inside an open air art exhibition, along a protected path of churches, historical buildings and the famous medieval towers.
Why Bologna? This is just one of the reasons to stop and experience this eclectic city.
In Bologna motors are called by their names: Ducati, Lamborghini, Maserati. These are the names of courageous, forward-thinking men, men who wrote the history of the automotive industry, proudly representing Italy and its industry around the world. Your journey begins in the heart of the city of Bologna. Stop for a moment in Piazza del Nettuno to study the fountain that dominates the square and pay special attention to Neptune, Roman God of the Sea. Notice anything about the massive figure’s trident? You guessed it: right here the fifth Maserati brother was inspired to create the logo of his family’s famed luxury automobiles. Still on the motor trail, go west; your next stop is Borgo Panigale, mecca for Ducati cyclists. There you’ll discover the legendary history of the Ducati brothers as you delve into the company’s museum and visit the factory itself, birthplace of the legend. Follow along the quiet country roads of the plains until you can hear the gentle rumble in Sant’Agata Bolognese: the place where art and technology come together to produce the stuff of dreams, Lamborghini. Accelerate again and you’re well beyond the city limits, in the land of the Cavallino Rampante (prancing horse), Ferrari…but that’s another story.
